MILLVILLE — Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, Community Justice Coordinator Matthew Rudd, and Millville Police Chief Ross Hoffman recently met with Erich Schulz, store manager of the Millville Lowe’s Home Improvement on Bluebird Lane, as well as the Assets Protection Department, representing Lowe’s corporate leadership for loss prevention.
The group met to address concerns of habitual theft, vagrancy and loitering, and the impact these are having on Lowe’s, its employees, and the surrounding community. Webb-McRae, Hoffman and the Lowe’s management team exchanged insights, shared best practices, and identified opportunities to work collaboratively to combat crime.
“Participating in the National Store Walk Initiative provided an invaluable opportunity to better understand the challenges retailers face and to reinforce our dedication to community safety,” Webb-McRae said.
The initiative was prompted by the National District Attorneys Association and Retail Industry Leaders Association which connected the groups with one another to discuss shared challenges and solutions to tackling retail crime and violence.
“We are concerned retail theft has been on the rise and we all want to enjoy a safe shopping experience,” Hoffman said. “We are hopeful the connections we made through this initiative will help us with these goals long term.”
